The most important aspect of our breeding policy is to breed with and for healthy cats.
We try to acquire as many unrelated animals as possible so that the inbreeding percentage remains relatively low. A low level of inbreeding contributes to better health and resistance, among other things.
HCM is a hereditary condition, among many others, that will emerge more quickly as inbreeding increases.
In our breeding policy, we carefully examine the pedigree of a new queen or tomcat.
We also try to gather as much information as possible about the health and background of the ancestors before we decide whether or not to acquire a cat.
In addition to health, we also look at type, profile, ear placement, and the overall appearance of the cat.
The kittens raised with us are brought up in a home environment and are familiar with everyday household activities and children.
We have a very limited number of litters per year so that we can give both the kittens and the older animals 100% attention.
All our cats receive excellent medical care if needed.
Our ultimate goal is to achieve an inbreeding rate of less than 7%, a top 5 of under 50%, and a clone value of under 15%. All cats used in our breeding program are tested for HCM, PKD, PL, HD, SMA Pkdef, and other hereditary disorders if possible before being bred.
